Getting to Know Your Sarasota Wedding Photographer: 4 Fun (and Slightly Embarrassing) Facts About Nina Bashaw
Let’s be real — when you’re choosing a Sarasota wedding photographer, you’re not just hiring someone to snap pretty pictures. You’re choosing a human to spend one of the most important, emotional, and joy-filled days of your life right by your side. So I figured. . . . why not pull back the curtain and show you the real me?
Here are four facts about me that will either make you laugh, nod in agreement, or slowly back away with curiosity. Either way, it’s genuinely. me and all in love.
1. Please, for the love of all things cute — bring your dog to your shoot.
Seriously. I insist. Nothing makes me happier than photographing people and their furry besties. I will get down in the sand, in the dirt, or on the dance floor for that perfect shot of your pup looking at you like the absolute queen (or king) you are. So if you’re booking me as your Sarasota wedding photographer, and you want engagement photos with your golden retriever, I’ll bring the treats.
2. Full disclosure: receptions are not my favorite part of the wedding day.
Now, don’t get me wrong I love photographing first dances and tearful speeches at weddings. But the second the dance floor opens up and I hear “Shut Up and Dance,” my inner party animal wants to throw the camera down and join the conga line. Sadly, “professionalism” prevents me from getting sweaty with your great aunt on the dance floor. But just know I’m dancing on the inside the whole time.
3. I don’t mess around with basic coffee.
Nope. If your coffee tastes like sad, flavored water, count me out. I need three shots of espresso and just enough creamer to soften the blow. Whether I’m editing galleries, preparing wedding day timelines, or hyping myself up for a shoot, I’m running on pure espresso energy.
4. I’m a voracious reader now — but I used to hate reading.
Like, really hate it. Dyslexia had me believing books were not my thing. But plot twist: I’m now obsessed. These days, I go for a good mystery — romantic and a little murdery (but not too graphic — we’re not trying to have nightmares). Give me a twisty “who done it,” and I’m hooked. Bonus points if the protagonist is a witty woman with a messy love life and a knack for solving crime. I also love a juicy memoir and a great piece of people-y fiction that pulls you into the characters’ that you keep reading deep into the night.
