Why Groom Portraits Deserve More Attention :

Thoughts from Tampa Elopement Photographer Nina Bashaw

On most wedding days, the spotlight naturally falls on the bride. Bridal portraits are often carefully planned while groom portraits are sometimes rushed or skipped altogether. As a Tampa elopement photographer, I believe this is often a missed opportunity on wedding days. I feel strongly that the groom deserves to feel just as celebrated, confident, and seen on his wedding day. His portraits capture more than just his attire. They reveal his excitement, nerves, and joy as he prepares for one of the biggest moments of his life.

Capturing the Details of the Groom

From the suit and tie to the cufflinks, boutonniere, or even a special watch, the groom’s details tell a unique part of the wedding story. With my experience as a Sarasota wedding photographer, I make sure to highlight these meaningful pieces in a way that feels timeless and authentic. Just as brides carefully select their dress and accessories, grooms also spend time choosing the elements that reflect their style. Documenting these details ensures that both halves of the couple are equally represented in the wedding album.

Balancing the Wedding Album Story

Your wedding album should tell a complete love story, not just one side of it. Groom portraits add balance and depth to the collection of images. They show anticipation, personality, and pride. In my work as a Tampa elopement photographer, I encourage couples to carve out intentional time for groom portraits. Whether it is quiet moments of adjusting a tie, a laugh shared with groomsmen, or a thoughtful reflection before the ceremony, these images matter.

Making Groom Portraits Stress Free |

Scheduling time for groom portraits does not have to complicate your wedding day. Through the lens of a Sarasota wedding photographer, I work with couples to create a timeline that makes space for both bridal and groom portraits without feeling rushed. Setting aside even 20 to 30 minutes allows the groom to have his own spotlight, resulting in wedding photos that feel relaxed and genuine.

Celebrating the Groom Equally

Your wedding day is about both of you. Grooms deserve more than a quick photo before the ceremony. They deserve to feel important and celebrated through portraits that highlight who they are. Drawing on my expertise as a Sarasota wedding photographer that also photographs elopements in Tampa, I am passionate about creating a balanced and meaningful story that honors both partners equally.
